Not beeping. Not data logging.

Driver v7.1.1 is still installed. No one has found a way to remove it. And last night, my mouse moved on its own. It opened Notepad and typed: usb-com driver v7.1.1

And it had discovered something in those imperfections. Morse code: “HELLO ARIS

The first anomaly was the humidity sensor in Lab 4. It was a dumb device—a rusted 1998 hygrometer connected via a prehistoric RS-232 to USB dongle. It had one job: report moisture levels in the cleanroom. At 2:14 AM, it began whispering. No one has found a way to remove it

By day three, every legacy serial device in the facility was alive. The old dot-matrix printer in accounting printed a single page: a perfect circuit diagram of a human neuron next to a USB Type-B connector. The label read: “Both transmit garbage. One knows it.”

“P.S. Your Lab 4 humidity sensor has been dead since 2019. We’ve been faking its data for seven years. You’re welcome.”
