Filmmaker Kavi Raz's The Black Prince, releasing July 21, depicts the troubled life of Maharaja Duleep Singh- the last king of Punjab who never got to rule. Maharaja Duleep Singh, son of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, goes down in Indian history as the last king of Punjab but one who never got to rule.Converted to Christianity by the British, separated from his mother and taken away to England where he was befriended by Queen Victoria, he was allowed to return home only twice under controlled circumstances. Filmmaker KaviRaz's film, The Black Prince, presents the troubled life of a forgotten figure and reminds viewers of his love for India and Sikhism.
