I'm an Oakland jazz salsa singer-songwriter, fluent in a few languages thanks to my itinerant childhood. Since 2004 I've done more than a dozen studio recordings for my own & other bands. In 2010, I sang on the Grammy-nominated Bien! Bien! In 2011, I made a fan-funded CD, and in 2012 my singing/songwriting was on Pacific Mambo Orchestra's debut CD. In 2013, we won a Grammy!

If you scan professionally: It might be time to retire the Mustek. Modern scanners are faster, quieter, and have native drivers. But if you are nostalgic (or cheap), VueScan will keep that Mustek running for another decade. The Retro Scanner Struggle: Finding a Mustek 1200

If you scan documents infrequently: It is the only stress-free method for the Mustek 1200 UB on Windows 10. Modern scanners are faster, quieter, and have native drivers

VueScan is a scanning application that bypasses the need for manufacturer drivers. It speaks directly to the scanner’s hardware.

Yes, but not officially. You will need to use a workaround. Why Won’t Windows 10 Recognize It? Mustek never released native Windows 10 drivers for the 1200 UB. Modern Windows uses a different driver model (WIA), and the old XP/Vista drivers are unsigned and incompatible. If you try to run the old setup.exe, it will likely crash or tell you the OS isn't supported. The Solution: VueScan (The Universal Lifesaver) After hours of searching sketchy "driver download" websites that promised the world but delivered malware, the real solution is third-party software called VueScan by Hamrick Software.
