In 2012 rural Punjab, Mini (based on the original film’s heroine) is a free-spirited girl who fakes her own kidnapping to escape an arranged marriage. She teams up with a shy, kind-hearted rickshaw driver named Viren (originally played by Riteish Deshmukh). A quirky translator (Kaml) accidentally becomes the bridge between two feuding Punjabi families when he mistranslates a love letter, leading to chaos, comedy, and an unexpected wedding. Their journey turns into a runaway romance

The climax happens at a temple where Kaml must deliver the “perfect translation” of a legal affidavit that will either send Viren to jail or let him marry Mini. He reinterprets the law cleverly, proving that love cannot be translated away by paperwork.

In this new version, a character named (the "mtrjm" – translator/interpreter) enters the story. Kaml works at a local court and police station, translating between Punjabi, Hindi, and English. When Mini’s father files a police complaint against Viren, Kaml purposely mistranslates the complaint to protect the young lovers, believing their love is genuine.

As the families chase Mini and Viren across the state, Kaml stages fake documents, misleading translations, and hilarious misunderstandings, all while falling in love himself with a no-nonsense female police officer (who is supposed to arrest the couple).
