“I’m scared,” she whispered into Satori’s shoulder.

“You found me,” Koishi whispered.

Koishi wanted to laugh. To deflect. To say something nonsensical and skip away. But the cave had done its work. The mirror had done its work. Her third eye—the real one, the heart-eye—was not closed.
