Then Ryner’s Alpha Stare activates involuntarily. He sees the structural formula of the relic—a broken sword. But more than that, he glimpses a horrifying truth: the relic is not a weapon of salvation. It is a containment device for a —a fragment of a "Demon" from the legendary past. Sprinkled throughout the episode are brief, haunting flashbacks to Ryner’s childhood in a village where he was feared and isolated because of his Alpha Stare. We see a memory of a young girl— Sion Astal —the only person who showed him kindness. Sion, now the king of Roland, is the one who spared Ryner and ordered this mission.
Ryner, sweating and shaking, seals the relic with his own magic. He tells Ferris, “These aren’t weapons. They’re cages.” But all I see is ruin
Ryner almost smiles. For the first time, he isn’t entirely alone.
As enemy soldiers close in, Ryner's right eye glows crimson, and the curse takes over. The screen flashes with chaotic images of magical destruction, implying a massacre. When he comes to, he is surrounded by even more bodies—this time, the result of his own uncontrollable power.
Ferris and Ryner arrive at a ruined castle said to house a Hero Relic. Inside, they are ambushed by a rogue magician using forbidden magic. Ryner tries to avoid fighting, but Ferris effortlessly kills the attacker.
