They opened Font Book. Searched: SymbolMT . Nothing.
They applied it.
There it was: Symbol.ttf (dated 1998, Digital Machines Corp).
Alex looked at the Symbol.ttf file in Font Book and thought: I should really find a proper open-source alternative. Alex clicked
The empty box became a beautiful, old-style microgram symbol (µ). The ohm sign (Ω) snapped into place. The diameter symbol (⌀) looked crisp.
