The cursor blinked again.
And the screen went black.
Elena’s finger hovered over the enter key. The apartment was dark except for the glow of the monitor. Outside, rain streaked the window like slow, vertical rivers.
For a moment, she saw her own reflection—wide eyes, parted lips. Then, text appeared. One line. Green phosphor on black. Searching for- Chloe Surreal codi in-All Catego...
And somewhere in the rain, a phone that didn’t belong to anyone began to ring.
She pressed enter.
Chloe Surreal had been her best friend in college—before the art installations, before the performance pieces that got her banned from two galleries, before the name “Chloe Surreal” stopped being a joke and started being a brand.
