Between 2008 and 2010, the Romanian daily newspaper Jurnalul NaČional launched one of its most successful marketing and cultural campaigns: āMuzica de Colectieā (Collection Music). In an era just before streaming became dominant, this collection allowed ordinary Romanians to build a high-quality classical and universal music library one CD at a time, purchased with a newspaper. 1. What Was the Collection? The Muzica de Colectie series was a weekly partwork. Every Thursday, readers could buy Jurnalul NaČional at a special price (typically around 9.90 RON, later increasing) that included a CD enclosed in a cardboard sleeve.
